World's Largest Dog!

Hercules is the name of this well-known and famous dog! He is know for is large body mass. Weighing in at 282 pounds Hercules is known as the world’s biggest dog! His paws are the size of soft balls and his neck is 38 inches around. His owner states that he fed him normal food and he just grew and grew and grew.

World's Smallest Baby!

After many days in the hospital a little girl who is known as the smallest living baby in the world was sent home. Rumaisa Rahman was her name; she weighed in at 8.6 ounces about the size of a cell phone. She was released from the hospital at 5.5 pounds and 16 inches long. The baby’s mother developed pre- eclampsia. This is a disorder that that is caused from having high blood pressure during pregnancy. This is what caused an emergency c-section at 26 weeks when the normal time is 40 weeks. Rumaisa is truly a miracle.

Future Technology

Future Technology

Technology is advancing more and more every day. From Atari to Wii, the possibilities are endless. Have you ever wondered how much more advanced technology will become? It seems like anything humanly possible to create, has already been created. However, this is not the case. In the next 10, 20 or even 100 years, our lifestyles and our next generations’ lifestyles appear to be completely different.

The primary prediction for the next 5 years is that the high cost of power and space will shift to computing as a cloud resource. Cloud computing services will compare to mainframe service bureaus. Amazon’s EC2 is an example of a cloud service bureau. Cloud computing will reduce the need to compute at the enterprise level.

By 2018, nobody will notice that half the population is cyborg. A human/machine will be walking with the common man giving voice/whisper commands, using earbud audio and an eyeglass display for a machine to view the world as an ordinary person.

In at least 20 years, you will never have a glitch or error on your computer again. Computers will only take a few seconds to start up, a webpage will open automatically without any waiting. There will no longer be an hourglass icon! Imagine how beneficial this new technology will be!

In the next 30 years, you will never forget anything ever again. Sounds ridiculous right? A PDA device will capture videos and audio from your daily experiences. If someone tells you to do them a favour, you will no longer disappoint them because it has all been captured.

Imagine your teacher telling you to put on your “smart glasses”. These glasses will project a keyboard in the air, take constant video, will know location awareness, facial recognition, voice interaction, includes sound input, and multi touch screens. This technology will make laptops an oldschool gadget.

Google has already advanced tremendously the past few years, however they have more genius upcoming plans. Some day if you’re walking in the forest and spot a pretty flower you don’t know the name of, finding out will be fairly easy. All you will have to do is take a picture, upload to Google, then they will tell you what kind of flower it is. Or you can scan an unknown thing, upload it, then Google will find out all the information for you. This will amazingly also indentify, cars, buildings, and even people!

In 10 years, every human will be monitored and tracked by the government. This gadget will be known as LoJack. LoJack can be implanted for personal safety. LoJack will also recognize faces and include a digital voice recorder embedded in our drivers’ licenses. Privacy will be impossible to obtain soon.

In 10 years, trying to connect to a network by a phone or laptop will be old-fashioned. This annoying problem will no longer occur. Our devices will automatically connect when are turned on.

By 2018, connecting with a friend online or in person will not be different. Geo-location, pictures, notes, and video will be automatically filed away. You can access something that happened by searching on your own personal store. This will be life-altering when it comes to online relationships.

To some, this way of upcoming life seems intimidating, while others are anticipating the significant changes. All of these new inventions are meant to make our life a little easier, but this worries me as to how, and why life will need these inventions in order to function properly. Future life seems to be tremendously complicated.

No Regrets (Short Story by me)

She knew she should have never gone there. Her sister, Renée, warned her over

and over, but Lauren didn’t want to believe her. Trying to convince Lauren about

anything was like talking to a wall.

Graduation was next week, so to celebrate the end of exams, it has always been a

tradition at Morris Mills High by the seniors to have a gathering at the abandoned

mansion at the ridge. Lauren didn’t really party throughout high school; or at all!

Because their parents have complete trust in their daughters, it didn’t take a lot

of effort for the girls to talk them into letting them go to events like this one.

Renée graduated in 2004 so she knew what this “gathering” was all about

because she had been there. Her friends talked her over, exactly like Lauren’s

friends did. It was only meant to be an innocent, fun night for the graduates to be

together for the last time. Renée could have told her parents what this event was

all about, but instead she wanted Lauren to learn a lesson out of all this. Lauren

heard it was going to be a drunk fest, but her friends convinced her that there

was going to be energy drinks instead. They obviously lied.

Lauren wasn’t used to seeing her classmates drunk and some, stoned out of their

minds. She wore a fake grin all night. Even though nobody would remember, she

didn’t want to come across as nervous. Clinging to her sober friends probably

wasn’t helping.

As she was watching girls she grew up with being taken advantage by just “some

guys”, it made her heart ache. These girls were so vulnerable. She had never seen

this wild side of them at school. Just as she decided it would be a good time to call

Lauren to pick her up, she felt two hands grasping her arms from behind. A couple

guys from her shop class who were not to be trusted, starting pull her by her arms

towards the fire pit.

They pushed her into the group of slutty girls standing around in string bikinis

with fake tanned skin and blonde hair. Confused, Lauren asked them what was

going on. The girls told her about another tradition they couldn’t break at Morris

Hills High. The tradition was that students weren’t allowed to graduate from

Morris Hills without getting drunk at least once. Lauren immediately refused.

From the few beers, one of the girls, Haylee Cosgrove, got too close to Lauren’s

face trying to tell her off while breathing a repulsive stench coming from her.

Lauren warned her to back off or she would slap her. The crowd laughed at

Lauren as she threatened Haley. Lauren did not have an aggressive personality

whatsoever. While Haley started to tease Lauren about being a goody-goody

Christian, without thinking, Lauren shoved her to the ground and ran away.

As she ran, she knew that wasn’t the way to deal with the situation but she was

under so much stress filled with several emotions. Once she ran far enough out of

sight, she flipped open her cell phone to call Renée. Renée had already been

waiting for Lauren at the end of the road. She predicted this would happen.

Shocked, Lauren asked her how she knew she was going to leave early. Renée just

smiled and said, “We’re a lot more alike than you’d think, sis, and don’t worry, I

won’t tell mom and dad. Instead, let’s go to a movie”. Renée wasn’t such a party-

pooper after all.

Poem for Necia :)

Grasshoppers

It has been a long ride

with you tight by my side

and it makes me wonder how

it would have been right now

..if it weren’t for the grasshoppers.

It seems like it was yesterday

the day we were forever changed;

after VBS summer two thousand and three

the moment a hobby led us to be

best friends like no other.

Although we didn’t hang out as much at school,

everywhere else we were inseparable acting like tools.

From singing and dancing, goofing off in your room,

It’s hard to believe it’s almost that time in June

and I’m realizing how it’s going to be in September.

I’ve been there during the loss of your grandfather and pets,

when it could have put your faith in God to the test;

but you were stronger than to stop believing

even through the difficult process of grieving

..that makes me look up to you like a sister.

Even though you fall asleep much earlier than me,

we’re always sure to make some time to speak.

I’ll never forget our chat in your camper in May,

to others I would never dare to even say.

If it weren’t for those grasshoppers..
